And we wonder why there is confusion

The FSF is not "open source." Any ideas where this Google description comes from? It certainly doesn't come from the web site it's supposedly indexing and presenting.

It's eighth on the result list.

You can specify a meta-tag to stop Google (and possibly other search engines) from using data from dmoz. Read more here:

It seems to show when I search for "fsf", or "free software foundation" with quotes, but not "free software foundation" without quotes.

I think there's some kind of philosophical comment I could make about Umberto Eco and the art of interpretation and semiotics and stuff here, but I'm not sure how to phrase it so I won't.

I had no idea Google used dmoz in it's summaries. That's a bit odd. Maybe it's one of their "semantic web" labs feature thingees?
